
Re-purpose Advertising as a Life Enhancer

The 'Adrater' formulation of this idea is aimed at advertising creators and vendors. But software identical to what is described in the whitepaper could look very different if its primary utility was aimed at consumers rather than creators of advertising. Consider the following causal chain:

A user creates a GoalNagger account and fills out a profile which includes long-term goals

This data is sold to advertising creators and vendors

The user blocks ads that distract from long-term goals

The user is organically reminded of his long term goals throughout the day, particularly at times when he is vulnerable to impulsive actions

Simply remembering our long term goals can help us achieve them. Unfortunately, at those times when we need reminding the most, we are even less likely to remember to remind ourselves. By offloading this task to advertising and blocking advertising that refuses to comply, we can ensure we constantly encounter messages subtly reminding us of what we want to achieve.
